Dutch photographer Jan Theun van Rees photographs the “hidden spaces” of Chicago: buildings under construction, churches, bridges, and structural elements that are often concealed. Since 2003, van Rees has been granted special access to these places and with his camera captures the often ignored spaces that are “one wall away”. Van Rees takes us beyond walls, ceilings and floors, revealing the supportive structures while redefining our idea and perception of space.
Sears Wacker Street Lobby Exhibition
Jan Theun van Rees’ work is featured in the Sears Wacker Street Lobby exhibition, on view from Monday, July 14th through September 2008 in the lobby of the West Entrance in the Sears Tower. The photographs, commissioned by U.S. Equities Realty, are also featured in the book One Wall Away, published by U.S. Equities Realty in 2007. The lobby is open to the public Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM.
